Start with your tile product
Keep the product name, care sheet and warranty with your home records. Use the manufacturer’s directions for that exact flooring.
- Identify whether the surface is porcelain, ceramic, cement or natural stone; their care requirements differ.
- Remove grit and use a cleaner compatible with the tile, grout, sealer and any decorative finish.
- Check the specific care guide before using acids, abrasive pads or steam.
- Follow the tile and grout instructions for sealing. Some products need treatment; others do not accept or require it.
